Vitals.com Has Doctors Ready to Provide Relief to Victims in Haiti

26 January 2010

LYNDHURST, N.J., Jan. 26 /PRNewswire/ — Vitals.com, America’s largest physician finder, has received requests from more than 150 doctors trying to lend their medical support in Haiti.

Just weeks ago, Haiti suffered the most devastating earthquake the country has seen in 250 years. To date 111,000 people are known to be dead, and countless others are injured and suffering from displacement.  The entire city of Port-au-Prince turned into a lethal pile of rubble, burying its inhabitants alive.  Despite language barriers, the immense destruction in Haiti has brought people across the world together.

Vitals’ mission is to connect physicians to patients in their time of need. In this dire situation, Vitals extends its mission to connect US physicians to the distressed victims in Haiti. Actively seeking a program to sponsor their efforts are more than 150 physicians from Vitals’ database. They are ready and willing to donate their time and services to help the victims, and any interested organizations are encouraged to contact Vitals.com.

According to Dr. Sanjay Gupta and Dr. Jay Nielsen, who are currently in Haiti now, although the services of all doctors are valuable, neurosurgeons and surgeons possess the most sought-after skills.  This is a crucial time for aid efforts as the Haitian government will be changing from “a search and rescue operation to a search and recovery mission.”

Vitals.com has also created a directory of courageous physicians who are currently helping others in Haiti.  If you know of an honorable doctor who should be added to the list, please contact Vitals.com.
