Jamaican Honor For Barbadian National


CaribWorldNews, KINGSTON, Jamaica, Tues. May 12, 2009: A Barbadian-born man is set to be conferred with the Order of Jamaica today.

Desmond Blades will be honored with the top order at King’s House for his long career in business and volunteerism.

Blades made a significant contribution to the Jamaican economy, especially in the areas of food processing and food distribution. He is best known for his contribution to business with the success of Facey Commodity and the Seprod Group of Companies and is the chairman of both.

Blades is also highly regarded as a volunteer worker, lending his expertise in several areas of national life, including United Way of Jamaica.

Blades migrated to Jamaica from his native land of Barbados in 1961.
